We did a nice autumn drive around Southwestern Massachusetts and Northwestern Connecticut. In the later afternoon/early evening on the drive home we were thinking of a place to stop for dinner while driving down Route 8. The first city I thought I was Torrington and then I remembered The Venetian restaurant. It’s been about 15 years or more since we had dinner there. This is a gem of a restaurant in downtown Torrington. Upon entering the restaurant, you are immediately welcomed by either the owner or staff. Once seated, your server comes right over to take your drink order and tell you their daily specials. I have never had a bad meal there. It is a very diverse menu too. The Fettuccine Bolognese is delicious, one of my favorites. You can’t go wrong with any of the soups that they make, they are all top notch. The dessert's and freshly ground coffee are just that, fresh, robust and wonderful. What I love that takes it to the next level, no paper placemat

My family and friends have.been going to the Venetian for decades. It is a community landmark. I read some of the negative reviews and can't believe how derogatory people can be. They should be embarrassed by their behavior. It is true that every restaurant surrounding our beloved Warner theatre gets crazy busy when there is a show. That is why sensible and savvy people who would like to enjoy fine dining in this authentic atmosphere before a show plan ahead and go early.
