After hours of hiking under the desert sun, we wandered into The Grnd Squirrel looking for something easy and satisfying, and it mostly delivered. The space is big, lively, and had live music going when we arrived. At first, it set a nice tone. As the evening went on, though, the volume crept up until conversation became a bit of a guessing game. Also, a small, honest note, the performer seemed to be wrestling with the key a bit. Absolutely our favorite meal we had in Joshua Tree! I had the gluten free falafel burger and truffle fries. My friend got the garlic parmesan fries. Garlic parmesan was our favorite, but both were delicious! The burger was well balanced, I loved the sauce. They had non-alcoholic wine options to go with dinner in addition to beer. My friend had the brownie and said the passionfruit-brownie combo was unexpected and also changed her life for the better.

After a hike in JT, my husband and I stopped by grnd sqrl for “linner” (you know, late afternoon lunch/dinner). It was stellar. We had butternut squash, curry, coconut soup to start, followed by lasagna and the house salad, and they were all superlative. I wasn’t surprised to read that the chef once worked at Michelin-starred Aquavit in Manhattan. We met the owner, who was super-friendly, and the staff is happy and chatty. Don’t miss it!

Always had good experiences, good few, good music and good vibes. Thank god we cut the chicken into smaller pieces or, instead of enjoying the remainder of a leisurely weeken
