This was my first visit to Hot Tuna. It has a great reputation and I could quickly see that it was well deserved. The food was fresh hot and delicious. The service was top notch and servers were very attentive even though they were quite busy during our visit. They have an excellent selection and everyone in our party found something to their liking. We especially loved the casual comfortable atmosphere. The dining room and bar area were quite nice but they also offer outdoor seating with fire pits. They have a free parking lot that they share with Food Lion and other smaller businesses. Our food was terrific and the prices were competitive so we definitely plan on going back. I highly recommend Hot Tuna.

My husband made a reservation at 6:30 PM, and we arrived right on time. At first, they couldn’t find his reservation, but after checking the logs for the third time, they finally located it. The hostess gave the impression that our original table had been given to someone else based on the look she exchanged with another employee while pointing toward a table. We were then seated outside next to the door, where people constantly walked behind my husband and slammed the door throughout our meal. We ordered the Volcano Shrimp, Spinach and Artichoke Chips, and Calamari as appetizers. Overall, the starters were delicious, but there is still room for improvement. The Volcano Shrimp had a great coconut flavor that I really enjoyed, but the rice served with it was too hard, as if it hadn’t been cooked with enough water. The Spinach and Artichoke Chips tasted good, but for the price, the portion was smaller than expected and looked noticeably different from the photos shown online. The Calama

This restaurant serves excellent appetizers. We ordered the tuna bites, which were perfectly seared, juicy, and coated with just the right amount of savory blackened seasoning. They were served with a wasabi aioli. While the wasabi flavor was subtle, the aioli paired very nicely with the tuna. The bronzed salmon was beautifully presented. It featured a grilled salmon filet over coconut rice. I originally expected a coconut sticky rice made with glutinous rice and bits of coconut, which I think would have complemented the dish even better. The rice served was on the sweeter side, but it still paired very well with the salmon and the curry aioli drizzled on top. We also ordered the Fra Diavolo, a pasta dish we often try at different restaurants, and this version really stood out. This was right across from our hotel so it was an easy short walk across the street. They had amazing shareable starter items. I got the crispy brussels sprouts and the steak frites. Steak was cooked just right and the brussels sprouts were crispy with an amazing sauce on it. We had Lindsay as our server and she was excellent.
