My visit was on a Thursday and it wasn't busy. It was myself, husband and 2 kids. The space for seating is a bit small but not bad at all. The food was hot and fresh. When I think Cajun I usually think spice or seasoning and felt that was lacking a bit. The catfish was the best tasting item and second the oysters. The mashed potatoes with the chicken fried chicken was over mixed, the gravy was very stiff. There are definitely great options on the menu. I say give it a try and find what you like.

My sisters and I went to The South yesterday my first time there and it was a great experience. The customer service was amazing from our server and I believe the owner as well (I forgot to get their names). We started with boudin balls as our appetizer. For our meals, we had the shrimp étouffée, chicken fried chicken, and D’s chicken sandwich. Each meal came with two sides. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, was hot, and very flavorful. We also received complimentary pork rinds, which were really good. This place brings the heart of New Orleans right to Wylie, Texas. The atmosphere, the flavors, and the hospitality made it feel like we were dining in Louisiana. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the owners coming out to greet us personally made the experience even more special. The boiled crawfish had the perfect kick, and the gumbo along with the red beans and rice were rich and full of flavor. We enjoyed some crispy pork rinds to snack on and finished with a delicious bread pudding that did not disappoint. Highly recommend!!

The food was tasty. It's in an optimal location - you're not gonna find Cajun food that good anywhere else in this area. The service is top tier! The spot is small and quaint, it would be nice if they had more space. It is my go to for Cajun food in this area.
