Lunch in a basement bar during the week? At Uncle Ming’s Bar in CBD, yes please! Tuesdays and Wednesdays there is a lunch special for bottomless dumplings, which is basically five dumplings (pork, chicken, vegetable, or gyoza) for $5 - minimum order of two sets of five plus a beverage. I had the pineapple mocktail that had a healthy dose of coconut. The pork dumplings were extraordinary and I highly recommend them. In fact a visit to Uncle Ming’s is highly recommended!

Wow this is an amazing underground find in sydney. Very Hong Kong in feel this fab bar is packed with Asian artefacts, a moody red light, chequered asian wallpaper and a great vibe with mellow tunes. The cocktails are exceptional and just so many to choose from. I was thrilled to see so many martini style with vodka and gin. The mango cocktail, alcoholic bubble tea, and lychee with hibiscus were some of our favourites. Food is next level. Think sesame toast, dumplings bursting with flavour and chicken karaage to die for. Can’t believe how good this bar is and that it’s taken me so many years

The place looks really really nice but i was absolutely disappointed with the service. We ordered 2 vegetarian dishes (as i’m vegetarian) and 1 chicken one for my girlfriend and asked to have it delivered together. The chicken dish has been forgotten and never came, when we asked, the waitress stated “it is not on the system and you havent paid for it, i need you to pay first and then we can make it”. Now it’s clear she forgot it and we ended up eating at different times which is quite disappointing for a place of this standard.. The negroni was really tasty, on the contrary the Manhattan

This place is a hidden gem near Wynyard Station in Sydney: the entrance is a staircase leading down to an underground bar, and it’s easy to get confused because there’s a men’s suit shop right in front. The moment we walked in, we were impressed: dark, red, mysterious… like stepping into another world. A great plan and totally worth recommending. Once inside, we tried the prawn dumplings and two BBQ pork buns… absolutely amazing! We also went for a few cocktails: the Piñata Punch and Aunty Ming’s Remedy Gram Berry, both delicious and perfectly balanced. And, feeling brave, we tried the warm
