I knew Goldie’s was a very busy spot on weekends, so we made it a point to stop by one weekday morning. We were pleasantly surprised by the clean, modern, airy, and comfortable interior. Goldie’s is located in an older and dated plaza, so we liked the upscale look of the interior. We started off with a flight of lattes - salted caramel, toffee, hazelnut, and chocolate. All were very tasty, but our favourite was the hazelnut. Good ambience, delightful customer service and good presentation tries very hard to cover up for mediocre food. I really wanted to like the food here, it left me underwhelmed. I ordered the breakfast sandwich combo with coffee,, while my wife ordered the spinach wrap with a side salad. Firstly, the "breakfast sandwich+hash brown+coffee" combo is very misleading. The sandwiches come with a side dish anyway, so the I ly addition is brewed coffee. The server asked me for what I wanted on the side and I said 'wedges.' I was looking forward to trying this place, I always keep an open mind. Our waitress Steph was great, very attentive. Food was very quick to disappoint. I’ve ordered simple scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, side tomato slice. Bacon arrived completely cold and stale, looked and felt like it was cooked the day before. Tomato was just plopped on top of the napkin that was completely wet at this point. The waitress was quick to fix this, addressing the issue. As I’m eating my scrambled egg, I’ve noticed the cast iron skillet had a large rust on the bottom which completely turned me off at this point.

I was expecting a lot more of a home cooked quality meal as I’ve only heard good things. I Was a little disappointed. The wait was over 45 minutes, and the quality of food was not living up to its standards. All ingredients felt like they were outsourced and NOT made in house. The Wafles were dry and hard, eggs were cooked frittata style which didn’t specify on menu , and almost everything had powder sugar on almost everything, I would definitely say the hype is real, not worth the trip, not worth recommending nor returning.
