Visited Desi Cafe in Belleville and was genuinely impressed. Ordered the Cheese Butter Masala with tawa roti, and the flavors were spot on rich, creamy, and truly authentic without being overly heavy. You can tell the food isn’t toned down for convenience; it actually tastes desi. I also tried the noodles samosa with schezwan chutney, which was a standout item. The samosa was crispy and well-filled, and the schezwan chutney added a bold, spicy kick that worked surprisingly well. The Gujarati samosa was equally good, fresh and flavorful, not greasy. I visited Desi Basket today around 3 PM and ordered a takeout butter masala dosa. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The dosa had significantly less filling than expected, and for nearly $14, the value just wasn’t there. I even showed them pictures from previous orders that also had less filling, and I requested that this time they ensure it was properly filled. Despite this, the dosa still had minimal filling. When I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for a refund, they refused and insisted that the dosa was prepared correctly. Ultimately, I had to return the food and left empty-hand

Real Indian food in the wilds of Belleville. Dosas, chaats, and thali, I have eaten here many times and I really like it. Everything is spicy and fresh. The café is hidden in the back of the grocery store, so you have to walk through the store to get there.

I have just ordered kaju paneer subji and received a Tub full of oil with some kaju and paneer. I had very great experiences previously with them. I think this has done deliberately to reduce future orders. Owner should take this seriously.
