Below average cafe - probably better to go in the evening for cocktails and shisha. Cafe just smelled like shisha, dirty tables as well. Matcha was too powdery but decent taste, latte was alright but tiramisu bagel was horrendous. I didn't expect it to be an actual bagel but it was, and was a super hard one (at least give me a soft one 😭) with heavy alcohol taste and not much chocolate or cream. Service was just typical HK as you'd expect.

I recently visited Mono Lab and had a mixed experience. The coffee and matcha latte were decent—rich flavors and a smooth texture that made for an enjoyable drink. However, I was taken aback by the environment. Instead of the warm, inviting ambiance I typically expect from a coffee shop, it felt more akin to a shisha weed shop. What really disappointed me was that after 7 PM, the shop shifts to a vibe that seems to focus more on hard drinks, which feels out of place for a winter evening. I was hoping for a cozy spot to enjoy a warm beverage, but the atmosphere just didn’t match that expectation. It’s a shame because while the drinks were good, the setting and the shift in focus left me wanting more. Mono Lab has potential, but it really needs to refine its ambiance to create a more welcoming experience for coffee lovers, especially in the colder months.

This cafe is quite famous for the unique food menus. It is also a good place for people who want to be as a cafe with shisha. But I would not recommend this place if you are sensitive to shisha. The shisha section is outdoors though, so the smell was not too strong for me. I tried the tiramisu bagel and the white miso basque burnt cheesecake. They were as not as I thought they would be. They looked better than they tasted. The bagel was too soft and the cocoa flavour was quite blend. It did not taste like a tiramisu in my opinion. But it was quite big and filling. The cheesecake was too sweet for my liking. The miso flavour could be stronger as well. The environment was very nice. Definitely a good place for friends to sit and chat for a long time. One of the staff was very attentive too.

One stop shop if you're a sheesha lover. Mono has the best sheesha in town with their varied customization it is surely a thing to try. For the ambience it's really lovely and gives you a very homely feel, the staff is amazingly sweet and do try their yummy 😋 cheesecakes
