The photos of this place do not do the immaculate vibes justice, the music is relaxing and upbeat, and the perfect volume to listen to but you don’t have to shout over it either. The interiors are warm, sleek and relaxing. The panel doors and skylight beautifully light the space, complimented by the ambient lights. We got a flat white, an oat cappuccino, the salutations smoothie (ube, dates and oat milk), the maple espresso brown butter toast and a breakfast burrito (served with Flagrant Hot Sauce which they also sell). I’ve never liked flat whites before and absolutely loved it here, the toast was beautifully cut and presented, and the burrito is to die for (would highly recommend, and is a very generous portion size, can be shared if you’re looking for a light bite). Overall 10/10, would come again!

I recently visited Rootdown after hearing it was a good spot for people who like to work from cafés in Hong Kong. I am always on the lookout for places where I can sit down with my laptop for a few hours, so this immediately caught my interest. The café is probably best known for the round skylight window inside. It is definitely very aesthetic and very Instagram friendly. The space has a nice open feel with plenty of natural light, which makes it a pleasant place to spend time in. Since we planned to stay for a while, we started with a coffee and a tea, and later finished with a glass of wine each. They have a small but very modern and trendy wine selection. From a wine perspective it leans towards lighter and more contemporary styles. Personally I would have loved to see a fuller and richer white like a Chardonnay on the list, but that is just my own preference. The space itself works really well for laptop users. It is laptop friendly and also dog friendly, so you will see people

Friendly staff and good quality food. Environment is nice. Very chill vibes as the seating is nicely spaced and organised. Food options are different and various enough. Beef sandwich was excellent, the acidity of pickles and wet ingredients make it a good balance and the bread had a nice chew to match the meat, plenty of herbaceous ingredients which was refreshing against the meat. The hot sauce is a nice touch The toast is very precisely done, perfect toast, light crispy but not dry inside. Maple spread was good, not too sweet so you can match it with hot or cold drink.
