Khaashouka Restaurant is a Jordanian restaurant located in the Empire district in Erbil that offers an excellent dining experience with very respectful and professional staff who provide outstanding service. Despite being located in the heart of Erbil and serving a large number of Kurdish customers, the restaurant completely ignores the local culture. While it's understandable that the staff is Arab, many of their customers are Kurdish locals from Erbil. Unfortunately, they don't play any Kurdish music whatsoever and you won't see any Kurdish television channels being shown. This feels disconnected from the local community they serve. I recently visited and had an unfortunate experience. I ordered meat tikka, but the server brought kebab instead. When I pointed out the mistake, he rudely insisted I had ordered kebab. Despite this, I reordered tikka , paid for everything, and still received no apology. The server’s attitude felt dismissive, especially since I was dining with a guest. He didn’t double-check the order while writing it down, which caused the confusion, and no one on staff made an effort to address our concerns or check on our table afterward. Overall, the lack of accountability and courtesy from the staff left a poor impression. Better training and customer care are urgently needed to improve the dining experience.
