Invited to this downtown restaurant with superb décor, featuring extensive marble throughout. It serves traditional Lebanese cuisine with an impressive and expansive wine list. The staff offer very old-fashioned, attentive Lebanese hospitality, which is a real highlight. The mezze were excellent; however, the main meat and chicken dishes were rather average,small portions and quite basic compared to expectations. And still smoking very intrusive inside these restaurants everywhere in Lebanon.

We broke our fast… eventually. Soup arrived a casual 6 minutes after iftar — because suspense pairs beautifully with hunger. For a party of 9, we were blessed with two tiny salad bowls. Minimalism at its finest. The kibbeh and sambousak? Fewer pieces than guests — a fun little “who gets one?” game to start the evening. Asked for the BBQ plate without chicken and was told it comes with chicken — so just don’t eat it. Inspiring flexibility. Shrimp biryani arrived without its sauce. When we asked, they pointed to another guest plate. Nothing says hospitality like borrowed condiments. For a “reputable” restaurant, the service was impressively consistent — CONSISTENTLY DISAPPOINTING!!!

We were originally planning to dine at ‘Leo La terrasse’ however the staff there were so rude so we visited Seray which was so much better.

First of all I want say that I am a very old customer for Saray and that I was a loyal customer to Saray even before he opened in his previous restaurants. I came for a visit to Lebanon in Ramadan so I wanted to make a iftar for my family and loved ones so I decided to go to my restaurant that I trust and love. So I started inviting my people for the iftar at Saray but they highly recommended me against it saying that the quality and service was going down unlike what you might have had in mind. But I insisted that we go to Saray trusting in their quality and service only to find out that I was very wrong. Some people accepted my invitation and some people refused for certain reasons later on I knew that they refused to come due to the bad quality of food and service. First thing the set menu was very poor, the French fries came half fried, the Kibbeh wasn’t edible, stuffed vine leaves we only ate a bite from and we spat out the rest.
