Whenever I come to Jaffna, I never forget to stop by this place for their delicious beef kottu. It offers one of the best beef kottu in the area at a very reasonable price and is definitely worth the money compared to many other restaurants around Jaffna. The environment may not be suitable for everyone, as most of the regular customers are fishermen. However, the food has always been the main attraction. Unfortunately, the standard of the restaurant has declined since the ownership changed recently. The quality and overall experience are no longer as good as they used to be.

This establishment, affectionately known to locals as "Thankam Kadai" (meaning 'Thankam's shop'), is an undisputed institution in Jaffna, particularly famed for its kottu. It is, quite frankly, extraordinarily popular for its signature beef kottu. Do be warned: because of its immense popularity, the place gets incredibly crowded, meaning you'll almost certainly have a significant wait – perhaps even a rather long one. Upon my visit, I sampled the egg kottu, as they maintain a very focused and rather limited menu, offering only beef and egg kottu. They regrettably do not serve chicken, mutton, seafood, or any other varieties. If you're hoping for an expansive choice, this isn't the spot for you; they clearly believe in doing one or two things exceptionally well. The egg kottu I was served was a genuine delight. The famous food here is beef kothu. And they start to serve it at 6pm and always there is a long queue waiting to order. Price is reasonable and the quantity also. Taste wise better than other local restaurants. Sometimes the kotthu is finished at 7 so guess how many people are waiting to order at 6.

Totally disappointed, it's not the same management where I had the food last time. They did not serve fresh cut onions, the kothu roti chops were larger, and bit dry makes the kothu like any other shop, sad to say the shop had lost its colour's.
