Attended on Saturday to watch England v Norway in the quarter final for the World Cup. I had booked a "VIP" table earlier in the week for 18 guests, and paid a £165 deposit, which would be reapplied as a bar tab. The food was amazing, my friend and I shared a hot honey and pepperoni pizza which was fab, and the rest of us all said how great the food was. The let down was the service and the general management of the business. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get served at the bar for our first round. There were only 2 bartenders serving in the outdoor bar, so when we tried to get served inside

Now that the "Lamp Tavern" has regrettably closed, Nortons has assumed the crown of the best Guinness in Brum, although their new venture "The Anchor" is already pushing for that honour. Only slightly disappointed there isn't a stronger selection of Irish whiskey (The brilliant Writer's Tears for instance), but they have Teelings, so not all bad. Popped into Digbeth for a couple of beers, unfortunately Norton‘s was closed as it was a mid-week evening, however Peter (Connolly) was doing some work in the outdoor area and popped his head over the fence for a quick chat, before inviting us in for a beer and conversation. As usual the Guinness was superb and excellently poured by the man himself, who coincidentally would not take any money off us. This sums up what Peter and Norton‘s is all about, an absolute favourite and somewhere I always take visitors from home and abroad to for great beer, food, music and craic.

If you are in Birmingham this is a must whether you have Irish roots or not. Professional, efficient & friendly staff, great outdoor space. Had possibly the best pizza ever.
