There a a few brunch options on this stretch of Burton Road, I simply chose The Old Bakery as it was full of happy patrons obviously having a lovely time. I ordered a soya cappu whilst awaiting the arrival of my bestie - brilliant ! Sometimes plant based milks can suck the joy out of a decent cappu but not here… Top notch! Attentive speedy service - our server was totally helpful and super friendly. There’s nothing trendy or gimmicky about this cafe but there is plenty of heart and soul. The menu advertised sourdough bread, but I was served ordinary bread. I have IBS, so bread type matters. When I raised it, the server initial claimed they don’t sell sourdough. I told her to check the menu, she did but then walked off without apologising. I then brought the issue up to the manager who claimed sourdough isn’t sold at weekends — which isn’t stated anywhere. He again, didn’t even apologise or offer to change the meal. For a bakery, this is completely misleading and unacceptable.
