What a fantastic restaurant. I am not very fond of vegetarian food, but my wife is, so we usually go a couple of times on our trips. I never got very impressed: the food is bland, and tacky decor is the norm. But David Bahn is totally a different experience. Not only is the place beautiful, but the service is excellent and the food amazing. You do not miss the lack of meat. Every dish we tried had a great flavor and aroma. Even the dessert (a combination of 5 different ones) was super tasty (and I am a sweet tooth). And of course, being Scotland, we had some great whisky.Kudos to David Bahn an

A fantastic find! Just walking by and found this gem of a restaurant. As Simon Rimmer of Greens made black pudding for vegetarians, so this place offers Haggis fritters. Both unlikely options for the clientele but both fantastic in their taste and presentation. Gorgeous wine list too. Wines by the glass rating 4.0 on Vivino, this place doesn’t short change customers, it ‘upgrades’ them! Will wish to return anytime I come back to Edinburgh.

I adore how the menu is creative with the vegetarian or vegan dishes they offer (there are NGCI options available too!), they've clearly put a lot of thought into what flavours work well together and how to create good food. Make sure you also dabble in their desserts, the apple sticky toffee pudding was the real deal.

The haggis fritters I got were underseasoned and were bon bons rather than a fritter in batter. The hummus was also underseasoned, and the bread was burnt in places. The 'baby potatoes' served with the main course haggis were on the... larger size and a little under done. The udon noodle dish 2 of our party had was warm rather than hot, and the dessert was rather underwhelming as the chocolate cup was thick, and took a hammer to shatter. Maybe nitpicking but we we
