My husband and I noticed Rocksalt Cafe on our first day in Edinburgh, passing by in the evening after 6 PM. At first, we thought the place was under renovation, but later realized the café simply closes earlier than we expected. We came back for brunch on our last day and ordered cappuccinos, Eggs Benedict on sourdough and scrambled eggs on toast with salmon. The cappuccinos were very good, with lovely artistic presentation. Great brunch place near Royal Mile. We went on a Saturday morning so it wasn't too busy. We had the turkish mezze and scrambled eggs with toast, everything was fresh and delicious. In particular the turkish eggs, borek and sausage tastes freshly made. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the cafe has a nice atmosphere with couples/friends/families. The counter has a wide range of sweet treats including brownies... we will definitely be back to try these.

We visited the cafe in 2025 and loved our experience so much that the first thing we did during our 2026 trip to the city was visit the cafe for breakfast! Food is phenomenal, and the service is lovely too. The prices are fair, we would pay even more for the food because it is just that good! Would recommend to anyone considering eating here. Great coffee place near the Royal Mile, they have a lot of options for breakfast but I’ve only had some scrambled eggs with bread and bacon one day and it was good, but nothing extraordinary. To me the highlight was the coffee, grabbed some lattes to go a few days and they always tasted delicious, and to top it off, one of the baristas drew bears on them and it was the cutest thing ever, they’re so talented! Final note: they’re pet friendly.
