Was looking for a place that close to my hotel for a late lunch, and found this highly-rated place in Google Maps. I was really happy to find out that they served Scottish breakfast, as it was my first time in Edinburgh and really wanted to try haggis. The restaurant was not crowded as it was already almost 3pm, and there was a laid-back, woody, cabin-like ambience inside, which together with the rock music playing was something I liked. We stopped by Troy Cafe Bistro and had the pleasure of meeting the owner while they were hosting a Christmas gathering. From the very first moment, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness. The place was spotless, the atmosphere incredibly warm and familiar, and it was obvious that the staff feel truly comfortable and valued. I originally went in just because the cafe had my name but I ended up ordering the Troy Breakfast and was really surprised by the size, quality and value for the price. Big coffees and a very friendly family run cafe. This ended up being my favourite place I ate at on my trip to Edinburgh. Do yourself a favour and visit!
