We visited for lunch and found the experience very positive. Parking is convenient with roadside options or a paid car park nearby if it’s busy. We were seated promptly and noticed a varied menu. For starters, the soup was good, but the duck was the real standout. I had initial reservations, but the flavors balanced perfectly. For the mains, the ribeye steak was absolutely delicious, complemented by a perfect peppercorn sauce. While the lamb was a bit chewy, my partner still enjoyed it. Went there on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Pleasant cellar-style dining rooms with a comfortable and simple ambience. The pork, pistachio and apricot ballotine was superb with clever accompanying flavours. I chose pan fried plaice for my main course. Presentation was lovely, the fish cooked perfectly and the flavours just excellent. The food was so deliciously rich a dessert was declined, which was not easy given the choices! Been here twice and it's become my favourite restaurant in Exeter! First off, I have to say that the food here is really professional and the quality has been consistent so far. The bread board in the nibbles section was a good start to my meals. The sourdoughs was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip, seeds and butter. For starters I had the goat cheese pie and the chicken liver parfait with apple, both looked and tasted amazing. I had the parfait at The Ivy but I could clearly tell the one here was higher quality. An improtu visit, but have visited a few times before and never left a review. Fabulous food, great selection of wine and wonderful friendly service, what more does anyone want. Quite frankly if you go anywhere else in Exeter for lunch you've made a massive mistake. Gemma, the owner, was an absolute delight, who's wine knowledge is fantastic.
