Hickory Street Cafe is a must if you’re in Abilene, Texas. This cafe that serves up some of the best homemade zucchini bread that you’ll ever come across and can be bought in loaves to go, is only open during the week for lunch. It also serves salads, sandwiches, soups and other fresh baked goods. The children’s menu includes Mac and cheese, which was a hit with some of our group. The chicken salad and quiche were also made with fresh ingredients. I had a sandwich with a side of the cream of potato soup and fresh fruit cup topped with yogurt… delightful combination. Got to have lunch here for the first time last week. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. And the food is top notch. I had a soup and half sandwich and still had leftovers. Price point is very reasonable for the amount of food uou receive. Cannot wait to visit again soon!
