Experienced phenomenal service at Mesa Street Grill. Our server Alberto was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and friendly. He shared a lot of history and facts about wine, recommended food/wine pairings, and was accommodating for a dietary restriction in our group. The dining experience itself was actually not bad. The food was good and we enjoyed the meal overall. However, the issue happened when we paid the bill. We noticed the total was higher than the prices listed on the menu. The waiter did not explain this until we asked. He then told us there would be an additional 2% charge for paying by credit card. At the time, we did not question it. After we got home and reviewed the receipt more carefully, we realized the prices were actually increased by about 4% before tax, and even paying by cash would still have been higher than the menu prices. We understand that some restaurants charge extra for credit card payments, and we would have been fine paying it if it had been explained honestly and clearly upfront. The lack of transparency is what disappointed us most. We tried calling the store to speak with a manager, but no one was available, so we decided to leave this review instead. My wife and I came here on Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was good, and the staff was attentive, but unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. We ordered the arrachera and lobster, but both dishes arrived cold and lacked seasoning. The lobster mac and cheese and the appetizer with shrimp and calamari were the best parts of our meal — those were flavorful and well-prepared. We also ordered two alcoholic drinks, and our total came out to around $180. For that price, we expected the entrées to be much better. Sadly, the food just wasn’t worth it. We don’t plan on coming back, as the overall experience didn’t justify the cost.

We had a birthday dinner for 10 people. Our server, Malina, was absolutely outstanding. We were seated in a private area and the food and drink were excellent. Our server was so kind that she even gave the early arrivals a tour of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place. Be sure to ask for Malina.
