This coffee shop on W. 9-Mile in Ferndale is a nice place to stop, relax, have a coffee and perhaps get some work done. I also like the hours as it is open into the evening on Fridays and Saturdays. We walked in at around 8 PM on a Friday at which time the place was surprisingly empty. We got coffees, juices for the kids and a thick piece of Banana Coffee Bread to share. I got a “vegan cherry pie” and it was SO good!!! It was homemade and you could definitely tell. I also ordered a half iced tea half lemonade, which was good but I wish it had a little more tea in it. When I finished that, I ordered an iced coffee with almond milk. That was the jackpot for me. Such a strong flavor but not overwhelming. I’d definitely come back here for the iced coffee and pastries!!! There are many couches to sit on (4) and lots of tables for seating. I visited Java Hutt in Ferndale for the first time and appreciated how helpful the employee was, especially with the WiFi. I had some trouble connecting at first, but they assisted me. I ordered a milk tea and a chocolate chip cookie. I also enjoyed checking out the bulletin board, which featured upcoming events in Ferndale, Oak Park, and Berkley. I will come back to visit to read a book and play a few games.
