Bakersfield on Mass Ave is one of my favorite spots in Indy! The tacos are consistently fresh and packed with flavor — simple ingredients done really well. The short rib and al pastor are always great choices. For appetizers, the short rib queso is a must. It’s rich, flavorful, and perfect for sharing — definitely my go-to starter every time. The vibe is fun and energetic without being overwhelming, making it perfect for a casual night out with friends or a relaxed date night. Service has always been friendly and efficient, even when it’s busy. Definitely a go-to spot on Mass Ave! 🌮

Came here for the first time and it was great! Got the esquites which was yummy. I reckon end squeezing some lime on it. Shrimp and fish tacos were my favorite. The carnitas beer flavor was very strong and not my fav. My boyfriend got the Al Pastor and short rib. Came at lunch and got our food within minutes. Great experience! Excited to try more. (Also clean bathrooms are always a plus!)

Made a reservation a few days in advance and noted that I would need a high chair and they tried to seat us at a high top with a normal height high chair. I had to ask for a different table because there was no way my kid would be able to eat. They were nice about it and got me a new table 15ish minutes later. Then I ordered a kids side of fruit with our meal for my kid and they forgot and the waitress took forever to check in so he didn’t get it until the rest of us were done eating. Then when we asked for a to go box she gave us one tiny box for 2 tacos, a taquito, chips and queso and corn.

The atmosphere and service were great! The food tasted good, too. Just be aware that the tacos are small, snack-sized. So if you're very hungry, order more tacos than you would usually eat. For the price, I was thinking they would be regular size. I had a cranberry-ginger agua fresca to drink, which was delicious.
