I really wanted to rate this place higher. The service was poor. We asked for a coffee and water at the start. We had to ask three times for the water, and finally got it when we we’re halfway done with our meal. Our server was nonstop, we saw her ask the boys to bring us water and they did not. Ridiculous. I feel like she should’ve insured that we got it. It’s so simple to grab water for somebody. I asked for my eggs over medium, and they were runny. She never checked up on us to see how the food was. The menu is packed with choices, and the portions are huge! The pancakes are so good and fresh – they're a little savory on top of being sweet. There are good number of unexpected/special items on the menu. The orange juice is fresh squeezed, and honestly, you can't find any better anywhere else! I didn't really like the Nutella banana crepe. It tasted more like simple chocolate syrup than Nutella, and it felt a bit too eggy for me.

This place is excellent! With the extra friendly staff and the quality, homemade dishes, it’s a standout in La Mesa. There are few other actual sit-down breakfast places where we can appreciate good table service. Right to the fresh squeezed orange juice and the real maple syrup, it’s our go to place for a great experience!

It’s mind-blowing that this place is still in business. Two eggs, two sausages, and two pieces of toast cost $16.95, and a cup of coffee was $4.25. I went in with my mother on a whim since we happened to be passing by around 11 a.m. for a late breakfast. The atmosphere was gloomy and outdated. It’s a small breakfast spot that only serves breakfast items and is only open until 1:30 p.m. I was hoping for some good home-style cooking, but I was very disappointed.
