I've been visiting Lawrence for work going on 15 years now. A former employee recommended this place when I asked where to grab a good burger. Well, life happens but I finally got around to stopping by. Pros: Food was decent. Typical bar fare. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere was not exactly screaming, "This is the place to be". There were only two other tables being occupied around 12:30pm on a Monday. Cons: IMO, a bar is not to be synonymous with a fine dining establishment. I personally had an amazing experience and genuinely feel like it was due to our bartender, Julianne that took such good care of us. They were busy at the time but she was professional the whole time. She was attentive and her service really made my experience make me want to come back. I was in Lawrence, KS for work and decided to stop into Dempsey’s Pub for dinner. Stellar atmosphere, great food and as a bonus they have Happy Dad Hard Seltzers! Highly recommend this place!

Ate there tonight. First time. Won’t ever go back. The only thing worse than the service was the classic margarita! We sent them back because they weren’t even drinkable. FINALLY got to order food and were told they were out of a couple appetizers. Ordered a smash burger (pretty simple, right?) well, when it arrived it was a completely different burger. Also ordered fish and chips and while the fish was ok the fries were cool and flimsy. Wait staff is either overwhelmed or just really bad. Will absolutely not return or recommend this place to anyone. Really Dempseys? Better work on some things
