I always get a sandwich from there, and occasionally their deserts. Homemade and fresh. Always get a good turkey & Swiss cheese on a white bun with lettuce, mayo, pickles, onions, and sometimes their dressing. One critique i have is that its best to eat it the same day. The white bun gets hard the next day, but everything else tastes fresh if you eat it the next day on a slice of bread.

So I live in Richmond, but I have a friend that moved from South Boston to here. She is my coworker, and that one time she gave me one brownie, and it was really good. I asked where she got it from, and she was like from the Windmill Farm Bake Shop. I’m interested in going there maybe this summer. It’s about two hours away, but I don’t mind driving all the way there for the brownies. The brownies are so good. I love the brownies.

I would have given 5 stars but I just spent $90 for my guys to have lunch and it didnt come with Troyers Derssing which is a huge reason why we get sandwiches here. When I asked about it I was told its and additional charge, ummmm, why wasnt I told this nor offered this additional item when I ordered knowing this is a staple of their single sandwich options. Doesn't cost more when I order a single sandwich. I guess next time I just need to order 15 seperate sandwiches to get the dressing I expected. $6 more for the condiment and I probably would have paid that if I would have known it was an "extra" item.

This is a pretty much a hometown staple. The Mennonite Bake shop has a great variety of delicious homemade goodies, and sells great sandwiches as well. The prices have increased post-covid, but so has everywhere else, even with the increase, it's still a great deal. They have a homemade chicken salad that is scrumptious. Along with their pies, cuppies, and cakes, they also make homemade donuts, but you have to get there early as the sell out fast! The decor is cozy, country kitschy and full of artwork that is for sale. The service is good, and the food is fresh. If you are in South Boston, stop in and give it a try.
