After months of anticipation, Poulette’s Bakeshop didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The selection the day I visited didn't totally grab me, so while I’ll return to try more, it’s not in my top five just yet. Logistics: On a Friday at 10:15 a.m., the line was short. Poulette Bakeshop absolutely lives up to its reputation. I visited on a Saturday morning around 9:30am and despite a short line, the wait moved quickly and they still had a great selection available. The pastries were excellent across the board. The lamination and texture on everything stood out immediately and clearly showed a high level of skill and attention to detail. I stopped by here about thirty minutes before closing time on a Friday, so I knew my options would be limited. They had more than I thought, but it was still slim. I did not expect to impulse buy an entire earl grey angel food cake for the weekend, but I do not regret it whatsoever. It was stunning. Get there early! If you want the best selection, you've got to arrive early. We did not and the available selection was somewhat limited. This is a high-end bakery and everything we got was fresh and delicious. It's definitely expensive but you get what you pay for. It's most definitely true what people say about presentation - we eat with our eyes first or eye appeal is half the meal. This place nails it as the presentation is visually stunning! It's great for a treat and a great dessert if you're going to dinner at someone's house.
