We stopped by for a strong coffee around 10am & the atmosphere was quiet. The pastries looked & tasted so fresh & finished it before our Turkish coffee was ready. There were some issues with the machine and it took much longer than it was expected, by time was ready, it didn't taste amazing & had a burnt aftertaste. I understand there were issues with the machine warming that day & wouldn't mind going back. Vela is a hidden gem of coffee in downtown San Antonio. The service is amazing, friendly, prompt, and skilled in crafting delicious espresso drinks. I visited twice and the foam on my latte and chai were perfectly smooth. I loved that Vela offers Turkish coffee in addition to the typical fare, so fun to try yet another unique coffee brewing method. Also distinctive was the offering of house made syrups and alt-milks. I’d recommend Vela to anyone visiting the San Antonio area who loves good, quality coffee.

I ordered a London fog latte, it was delicious. One of the best I’ve had, it had hints of vanilla and perhaps lavender. Just 10/10 excellent. Husband ordered espresso, the beans are very fruity and seem good quality, the aftertaste was very smooth, but the shot was very acidic (hence only 4 stars) I’ll forgive them because the vibe was excellent, the staff was kind and prompt, and overall my drink was excellent. Plus, the presentation for the espresso was 10/10.
