Barrio Queen is a decent spot if you're looking for a casual lunch or dinner. The service was okay. The frozen margarita was incredibly refreshing and hit the spot in this heat. While the overall meal was average, the tacos made for a good midday bite, featuring well-seasoned and nicely cooked meats. To wrap things up, the churro was delicious and provided a perfect sweet finish to the meal.

Fun atmosphere. Clean. Friendly service. The food was so amazing!! Chips and salsa was great, and complimentary. The salsa was like a roasted tomato salsa. Very good and flavorful!! Tacos are a great option. My wife had two surf and turf and one alpastore - pork and pineapple. Very good. I had the Cochonia Pibil - shredded pork with Pico and pickled onions, so juicy and flavorful with a side of black beans which had to be the best black beans I have ever had in my life. I would highly, highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Phoenix/Scottsdale!!

First time to Barrio Queen and it will not be the last!! We were promptly seated in the bar area. Spoke with the delightful server about which drinks to get, and were both pleasently surprised by how simple yet powerful the cocktail selections were, bartender knocked those out of the park! After much deliberation we decided on 3 tacos each. Both ordered the Mar y Tierra (surf and turf) Taco, and 2 other selections. We both agreed that the surf and turf Taco is unique and perfectly balanced! We did not make any modifications to our taco orders. My other two tacos were; fried fish taco and the gringas (pork and pineapple), which I thought were out of this world!! Mind you we are from Tucson, AZ and consider ourselves pretty familiar with quality tacos and these are it!! We will definitely be returning to the Barrio Queen. Highly recommend! Parking is interesting in old town Scottsdale, but the walk isn't bad, and was free around the lunch hours.

My wife and I came in for lunch and everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic. I got the birria tacos and the street corn and my wife ordered the enchiladas. Every bite felt like someone in the kitchen knew exactly what they were doing. The birria was rich and flavorful, the tortillas had that perfect soft but structured feel. The street corn was the kind you keep eating long after you are full because you convince yourself there is always room for more corn. My wife loved her enchiladas so much she kept saying Just try one bite and I kept pretending I did not hear her because I was too committed to my tacos. Now here’s a twist. Later that night I ended up with food poisoning. We also grabbed a smoothie afterward, so realistically, the odds are fifty fifty on who the culprit was. But I will say this. Sadly I was hoping for more from Barrio Queen. All the food was just ok in my opinion. We came in a group and everyone’s tacos were just average. We all felt like it was missing something. The servers were really nice and helpful and the pozole was good. Wouldn’t be in a rush to go back though sadly.
