A hidden gem and an absolute must-visit restaurant. Serai is easily one of the most unique dining experiences I’ve had in Melbourne recently. The restaurant is Filipino-inspired, with many of the dishes cooked over a wood-fired grill, creating flavours that feel bold, smoky and unlike anything you’d usually find around the city. Hidden away in a laneway just off Little Bourke Street, it has an intimate wine bar feel that makes the whole experience even more special. Following a recommendation from a local, 3 of us got a last minute table in the laneway outside Serai on a cool friday night. From the moment we arrived we were made welcome. Thanks to the team for the amazing food and great service. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Melbourne.

The red wine jus (I believe it’s called) was such a great complement to the meat’s savoriness. As for the scallops, this dish easily became my favorite. No other words needed, just amazingly delectable. You will have to try it for yourself to know what I am talking about. Lastly, the inasal. Just thinkin
