I honestly wish I could put into words how amazing that Spicy Tonkotsu ramen made me feel. I asked for udon noodles instead, and they happily accommodated without hesitation. The karaage chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and incredibly juicy on the inside. Absolutely loved it! Will be back again.

While in Newcastle, my partner and I were craving Japanese food and decided to try Menya Makoto after reading the positive reviews. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed, which set our expectations high. The space felt cozy but a little unorganised, with no clear theme, just tables and chairs arranged throughout. Small, unassuming restaurant, you might even walk straight past without realising, but wow - what a find! We had the salmon sashimi, cheese udon and ramen. Everything tasted 10/10. Loved the little utensil tray with everything in them (chopsticks, soup spoons, and fork/knife/spoon etc). Service was prompt and polite and food arrived very quickly on what appeared to be a semi-busy night. There was a loud group of people at a table near us, but still, the vibe was great and it was very relaxed. We’ll definitely be back!

Had the spicy ramen yesterday — absolutely amazing Place was fully booked, but the staff stayed calm, friendly, and never made us feel rushed. Answered all my questions with patience. Loved the vibe and service! I dont know why people leave bad reviews on them. I have been here couple of times and i love it everytime.
