The Dorotheum Café is not crowded, which is nice, but the waiters are quite rude and uninterested. The pastries look pretty unappetizing and do not invite you to try them. Generally, it’s not a place worth recommending if you're seeking friendly service and tempting desserts.

The Sacher Torte was almost as bad as the service, but not quite. At least a day old, the cake was dry, sandy, and tasteless, and the ganache was crystalized like poorly tempered fudge. That would have been excusable if the service had been remotely decent. The server was rude to the point of unpleasantness, and never came back to the table.

A great place to have coffee or tea and dessert after lunch. Coming here at 12pm on a Saturday was still not very crowded. As it gets later, more and more customers stream in. Prices were not expensive and the food was great and tasty.

I visited alone as a tourist and unfortunately did not feel welcome. I don't speak German, so communication started in German and then switched to English once it became clear I didn't understand. That part was completely fine. However, the overall attitude felt unfriendly throughout my visit. When it was time to pay, I said I only had a card. While other customers appeared to be paying at their tables, I was told to go to the counter.
