Kam Islam★Disappointing Experience Visited Sajna Restaurant in Banani with my daughter during a trip to Dhaka. The food was below average and not up to expectations for this area. We ordered Prawn Masala, Mutton Dupiyaza, Vegetable Dupiyaza, steamed rice, and butter naan. The Mutton Dupiyaza was concerning, with unusually fatty pieces. Staff responses were unclear, and the manager showed no interest in addressing the issue. I am genuinely surprised by the number of positive reviews, as my experience with both food quality and customer service was completely the opposite. Would not recommend.
Sadad Redwan★Disappointing Experience Visited Sajna Restaurant in Banani with my brother, who was visiting Dhaka from the Maldives, along with ad filmmaker Sarwar Hossain. Given the location and reputation, expectations were high—but the experience fell short. We ordered prawn masala, mutton dupiyaza, vegetable dupiyaza, steamed rice, dosa, chicken kebab, dal makhni, and butter naan. Unfortunately, the food overall was below average. The mutton dupiyaza was especially concerning, with unusually fatty pieces. When we raised the issue, the staff responses were unclear, and the manager showed little interest in resolving it. Even dessert was disappointing—the gulab jamun was cold inside and only warm on the outside, clearly reheated. Honestly surprised by the number of positive reviews, as both the food quality and customer service we experienced were the complete opposite. Would not recommend.
iffat majumder★I ordered a plain naan and laccha paratha along with butter chicken for take away, when I opened the boxes the naan looked very different like it was old, then I tried to tear the naan apart and I couldn’t because it was so hard, same issue with the paratha I think it was atleast 1-2 days old, then the butter chicken, the chicken was hard as well I think it was very old I was scared to eat it because you can get food poisoning from it, I attached a picture of the chicken piece. I did not expect this from them since they are a very old establishment, they should not be serving old food to people, people can get seriously sick from this. Never ordering from them again.
Sarah★★I’m a vegetarian. Food was average taste. Can’t call it authentic Indian. Had too much cream in it. Sweets didn’t have any original taste. I went for dosa but didn’t have it. Service was too interruptive as staff check on you every other minute. Nice ambience. The lunch buffet was value for money. Quality of food could be much better.
Chowdhury Zaman★★★★If you are looking for a fine dining experience, then this restaurant would be a good choice. The food is delicious, the menu has a varied selection, and the prices are reasonable. The ambience of the place is remarkable, with a tasteful interior decoration. And, finally, the servers are very courteous and alert. One drawback of this restaurant is that it has no parking facility. And that, in my opinion, is a huge drawback. And that is the only reason this restaurant will not get a 5-star rating from me.
Md. Abdul Muktadir★★We went there for a business dinner and ordered a variety of dishes, including steamed rice, butter naan, mutton rogan josh, chicken, dal makhani, mixed dal, mixed vegetables, prawn on toast, Tom yum soup, and green salad. While some of the items were good, others didn’t meet expectations. Overall, the food felt overpriced relative to its quality. In my opinion, Paturi—just a few blocks away—is a much better option, especially if you’re looking for quality Bengali cuisine.
Shankharupa Ashish Damle★★★This is a very old restaurant situated in Banani for about two decades. It is known for its South Indian section that is quite decent. So vegetarians flock in here who otherwise have less options in Dhaka city. However I was quite disappointed with the menu as the South Indian menu is not an extensive one, just basic ones like idli, dosa, uttapam and a few more variations in them. Although there’s a buffet for lunch, we did not opt for that. The interiors are quite decent and has a parking facility for a few cars inside campus. Altogether it is an ok place to visit in Dhaka, if you are craving for South Indian vegetarian menu.
Subrata Sarker★★★★★It's was really a good place for get together. We enjoyed time together very much. Actually food was really good. Service and atmosphere also top notch.
