The food here was so great! Everything is local and you can taste the freshness. I had the fish cakes and beet salad. The beet salad had plenty of beets and greens and they tasted great. The homemade tartar sauce was icing on the cake. Would highly recommend supporting this great ethical business!

I made reservations here for mothers day as it is my moms favourite spot in halifax & i have always enjoyed it aswelll. the menu is great, lots of vegetarian or vegan options but still lots of more traditional options too. The drinks were also very good, we both liked what we got alot & the value was good the two of us ate and had drinks and bottled water for about 70$. The atmosphere is cozy and feels unique, i actually got a great window table upstairs perfect for views of citadel & people watching. This place was lovely. The vibe was cozy and welcoming. The staff were super friendly and easygoing. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, they found us a table and made us feel really comfortable. Our server was amazing, very helpful with the menu and just had a great attitude.The food was great too. My daughter had the grilled fish with potatoes and tartar sauce, it was just $10 and honestly way better than what you’d expect for that price. ⭐ The Wooden Monkey — Halifax ⭐ The Wooden Monkey is one of those restaurants that sneaks up on you — not literally, but in that “oh wow, this is way better than I expected” kind of way. It sits right across from the Halifax Convention Centre, which basically doubles as the backyard of the Sutton Place Hotel. From my hotel window, I could look down and practically wave at the front door. If convenience were a sport, this place would be winning gold.
