Had never been to an Obanhmi before, but stopped in to take out lunch. Unassuming storefront that is a literal 'hidden gem' as the entrance off Kingsway is set in off the street and behind a fence. They have a lot for parking off the side street on Newton (and you can enter from this side as well). We loved our banh mi. The Chicken Lemongrass ($8.50) was flavourful, no bones to be found, and the meat marinated well. One of the sauces, maybe the sweet chili, did drip, so advisable to eat over a dish for any leakage. Overall decent bahn mi, I got tofu and veg. The tofu couldnt have been any less seasoned. I'd imagine it came straight from the pack and sliced and put on. The rest of the sandwich was ok, veg was fresh and good so this saved the plain tofu. Overall not the best not the worst

One of the better banh mi joints around, even better than some bigger restaurants! Can’t go wrong with this place if you’re in the Burnaby area and are craving banh mi. While the sandwiches are slightly smaller in size, but it certainly makes up for it in the taste and flavour. I’ve tried both their chicken lemongrass and deluxe classic cold cut (and couldn’t wait to try more!), the deluxe classic is certainly my favourite. Every ingredient is fresh and flavourful. Would also highly recommend adding jalapeno to give your banh mi an extra kick. I do recommend ordering ahead on Skip or DoorDas

Used to be a solid Bahn mi place, but things seem to have changed. Visited them recently and got a Bahn mi. The bread is not the same, and the Bahn mi is smaller and fillings is very meek. Service is quick and friendly.
