Yesterday I had a lovely reunion dinner with my mum and my former roommate — we lived together at school 16 years ago, and finally managed to catch up. It was a spontaneous evening, and since most places were fully booked, we ended up here. Our booking was for 7.30pm. Sublime Basque cuisine! We were seated at the bar and were taken care of by the owner. He has extremely passionate about the cuisine and wine, prepared all in house. The natural wine was excellent and really high quality. The menu, written on a chalk board, featured an excellent selection of pintxos and other larger small plates perfect for sharing. I’m not sure if the server was having an off day or if they were understaffed and unprepared for the number of customers they received. It seemed like he was struggling to juggle service, deliver orders, and communicate with the kitchen. Regardless, I was happy with the food and would love to come back again.
