The food was delicious. I really enjoyed the mussels in cream sauce — very flavorful. Unfortunately, the French fries served with them were a letdown: soft and lacking taste. The kids’ menu was a nice surprise, offering a boiled chicken breast and a generous portion of grilled vegetables. However, the service was disappointing. We waited 50 minutes from being seated to receiving our food, despite there being 5 or 6 servers and our order being quite standard and seasonal. We were passing through Vannes and decided to stop for lunch at Le Cardinal. It turned out to be a fantastic choice! The restaurant is perfectly situated right in front of the stunning Saint-Pierre Cathedral. The location is truly charming, set in a historic building with a very cozy atmosphere. We ate very well; the food was delicious and of great quality. Furthermore, the staff was extremely polite, friendly, and welcoming. Highly recommended if you are visiting the city!

We chose the daily menu and had a starter and main course. The food was good and tasty. However, we were very surprised that it cost more to buy a 75 cl bottle of rose wine (€26) than if we bought 3 x (large) 25 cl glasses (€8 per glass). We queried this with the waitress but she pressed her calculator several times and couldn’t see the problem. So we each had a large glass of the rose, which was very nice EXCEPT that when the bill came, we had been charged €11 each for the 2 glasses, having been charged for the more expensive rose on the menu.
