A lovely self service bakery. A large coffee and two butties for 9.2€. Very good and fresh. Seating inside and out. Very relaxing. Paulicarus and Boothroyd had no idea last night was a bit like New Year Eve for the locals, the night before May Day is party time.

It was my first visit to Köln, and I instantly became a fan of BackWerk 😍 The self-service system is interesting, the prices are great, and the sandwiches are good. A station to heat them up would have been a nice addition, but I didn’t notice one. Aside from that, it’s a great option, and they’re conveniently located all over the city.

Great selection whether you want sweet or savory breakfast, many lactose-free options (vegan even). Add tasty coffee and tea in welcoming interior and you have perfect breakfast or snack mix. We went here each morning of our trip, would definitely recommend!

Avocado bread redefined, and not positively. Frankly, this is close to ... don't wanna say it here. They put avocado slices only at the very edge of the bun and it's not that I can check before I buy and then put it back. Sad practice for an otherwise good experience with the brand.
