Fred is a great cafe in Würzburg if you are looking for healthy & vegetarian friendly places to eat around the city. They are located along Herzogenstraße and are open from 8am to 7pm (Thurs - Sat, Mon & Tues), 9am to 7pm (Sundays), closed on Wednesdays. There is a fair sized indoor seating area and outdoor tables as well. We had an early lunch here during our recent stay in Würzburg. Everything served was fresh, nicely prepared and tasted delicious. I visit Cafe Fred frequently and have had breakfasts and lunches there. Their food has been consistently bad. Today my gf and I ordered goat cheese sandwich with dried tomates and three-egg omlette also with goat cheese. The sandwich was extremely dry and the bread was definitely too old to be eaten. The eggs on the other hand were very watery and soggy and seemed like they forgot to add cheese at all. They were served with dry brown bread. Our breakfast was just great. The staff was really nice and the whole place was full. You should make a reservation before going there especially on weekends. We ordered avocado toast with poached egg, scrambled egg with bacon and herbs and pumpkin spice latte. Everything was very delicious. 🍳

Great place with great food. I went for a breakfast and enjoyed the scrambled eggs with chorizo and cheese. My only comment is the cold bread, a toast or warmed one would make it better. They speak English and had pay with card so it was easy. They had a professional barista but I don’t get the “what size you want your cappuccino?” More milk will just ruin the espresso shot.
