Last week, we made our way to La Sabroso. At first glance, it felt like one of those cafés designed for Instagram. Chic interiors, a lovely outdoor setup, warm lighting, and thoughtfully done corners that almost invite you to pull out your phone. It's a fairly compact place though, probably accommodating no more than 50 to 60 guests at a time. Walking in, I couldn't help but notice that the place was buzzing with college students clicking pictures and filming reels. For a moment, I wondered if I'd landed at the wrong address. I was probably the only family guy there, and admittedly, I felt a little out of place. But then the food started arriving. And suddenly, none of that mattered. Every single dish we ordered turned out to be genuinely impressive. I'm generally not someone who gets excited about mocktails, but this one pleasantly surprised me. Honestly, this café is one of the most hyped places on Instagram, but the reality was quite different. Most people seemed to come just to click pictures rather than enjoy the food. The food itself was okay — nothing extraordinary — though there were a few dishes that were genuinely good. What was really disappointing was the overall maintenance of the place. The AC wasn’t working, which made the experience uncomfortable, especially in this summer heat. The glass door was in horrible condition, covered with tapes, and it was kept open instead of being fixed — not sure why basic repairs weren’t done. On top of that, the place was full of mosquitoes. These are very basic things that really need attention. That said, the service was good and quite fast, which was the only positive part of the experience. Overall, the café has potential, but basic maintenance and comfort should be taken care of.
