Iyo is, without exaggeration, one of the most impressive Japanese dining experiences I’ve had in Europe. As far as I know, it is the only ethnic (non-Italian) restaurant in Milan awarded a Michelin star, and after dining here, it becomes immediately clear why. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a completely different world. The atmosphere is refined, elegant and immersive — it genuinely feels like stepping into Tokyo, not Milan. I tried the 2026 tasting menu. Hit or miss, not as creative as I expected, and somewhat pretentious for what it is, but decent overall. I was surprised to like the dessert more than anything else. The staff is very courteous.

There’s a reason this place has earned a Michelin star. From the moment you step inside, you’re treated to exceptional service. During our meal, so many servers attended to us that we felt like celebrities. I’ve dined at many Michelin-starred restaurants, and only a handful have truly left me mesmerized—this was one of them. We opted for the tasting menu, and while the food was outstanding, my only real complaint was the pacing. The experience lasted about three and a half hours, and although I understand the importance of savoring each dish, the gaps between courses felt a little too long.
