This restaurant sits on a hillside in Trieste and has been around for over a hundred years. Even popes, heads of state, and famous guests have been here! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the staff are super friendly and attentive. Every dish we had was delicious, and the prices are very reasonable — great value for money. Totally recommend this place!

Whenever we come to Trieste, Suban is always our first choice, which feels like home. It never disappoints. Perhaps the best trattoria in Trieste. This is a longstanding family restaurant which keeps the high quality for generations. The owner Mr. Mario who is older than 90 and her daughters are always present and take care of the guests personally. You should try their signature pesto pancakes, shank and other seasonal delicacies. Choose anything from grill, you’ll not be wrong. Dado is the grill chief who is a master of fire.

Awsome place still led by the same guy for at least 40 years. Great food, fair prices, great atmosphere. Even though age caught up to to the owner and he is using crutches, he comes by and makes conversation with every customer. 90% locals, I was the only tourist here which was great and exactly what I look for when dining abroad. Whole heartedly recommend this spot.
