Found this restaurant via some travel blog. Food is like home cooked style. A bit on the sweet side. Tried the fish head hot pot, black bean pork rib and samba paku veg. The restaurant setup is like traditional Chinese wedding decor.
It's a 2 lot restaurant, serving special Chinese Hakka dishes. Food quality is really not bad. The overall interior design is very special, very traditional Chinese style. We were there very early when the shop just opened at 530pm. The staffs are very friendly.

On 19 May 2026 we dined at the charming 客家菜馆 in Ipoh and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The restaurant offers an impressive selection of traditional Hakka dishes, with prices that are very reasonable considering the generous portions served. Every dish we tried was flavourful, well-prepared, and comforting — authentic Hakka cuisine at its best. What truly stood out was the unique ambience of the restaurant. Stepping inside felt like entering a traditional Chinese wedding banquet hall. The entire space was beautifully decorated in festive red, featuring classic Chinese wedding symbols such as the “Double Happiness” characters, red ribbons, lanterns, floral knots, and elegant vintage-style signboards. The nostalgic décor created a warm and celebratory atmosphere that made the dining experience even more memorable and perfect for photos. Service was also commendable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient throughout our meal, making us feel welcomed from the moment w

No regrets coming here for our last lunch in Ipoh. My wife absolutely loved the pig trotter vinegar and finished the whole pot on her own, including all the sauce! I have a soft spot for fried fish head with bean sauce and enjoyed that. The abacus seeds (we had the yam version) was really good too. The seeds were just the right texture, soft and only slightly chewy, not rubbery. Service was very homely and friendly. Servers and lady boss would come by to check if everything was OK every now and then. Ambience was very traditional and the whole setup is for a Chinese wedding with lots of red decor, double happiness paper cuttings and auspicious couplets.

The place is nicely decorate, looks festive and unique. Went with family with elderly and young kids. It was a little long waiting time during the festive (CNY) however the Service was still good although they’re too busy. The lady boss and her staffs are all very helpful and polite. I would say it worth the wait as all food was really authentic and super tasty. We ordered quite a lot dishes, all were very tasty. The mantis prawn yam ring was super good, the braised pork was so tender and not too fat and the taste just so superb. Asam fish was great and the Hakka bean curd was so good in texture.. The vinegar pork-trotter, it was so appealing and make us good in appetite.. overall were very satisfying and add so much rice due to the tasty dishes.. 😋 Price wise, it’s reasonable with such nice dishes and atmosphere. I Will definitely go again and I’m highly recommended this place.

Came here for dinner in April recently. Inspired by the visit to Han Chin Pet Soo to try Hakka food. This place has good food and good service. The interior of the shop is nicely decorated. The special coffee is interesting, came with a piece of ice frozen with strong brewed coffee so the drink became extra strong coffee.

Every dish we tried tasted authentic and true to local flavors, giving us a genuine experience of the region’s cuisine. The food was prepared with care, and you could tell that traditional recipes and cooking methods were respected in every plate that arrived at our table. While the service staff were not overly enthusiastic in greeting customers, the lady owner stood out with her warm smile and friendly attitude. She personally greeted each table, making guests feel welcomed in a sincere and natural way. Her presence added a comforting, homely touch to the dining experience. The prices here are very affordable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. Even a few dishes were more than enough for sharing, making it ideal for families or small groups. Overall, this is a wonderful place to enjoy delicious local specialties at a reasonable price. It is definitely worth visiting and highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic local food in a relaxed and welcoming

This year we decided to do Chinese New Year at Hakka Restaurant Ipoh Town instead of entertaining at home. We secured our reservations well in advance the previous month and planned out the menu as well so we could just focus on enjoying the evening with our family and celebrating. The food overall was delicious but the servers seemed to be a bit overwhelmed with the volume of diners. However, they were doing an amazing job. They actually missed one of our dishes and it was already sold out for the evening but they made up for it immediately with another one. I give them credit for running a tight ship especially on the busiest night of the year. We look forward to and join another dinner on a normal a night and would definitely consider coming back again next year to celebrate CNY!
