Their 9th branch (apparently) just opened its doors within the premise of Ipoh’s only international chain hotel, the AC Hotel by Marriott. The restaurant did invest heavily in deco to match up the 4 star hotel. It’s a cozy and comfortable setting, some tables have like day lounger sofas. The food was well presented with a lot of flare and flame 🔥, they put on a great show but unfortunately food tastes fell short and doesn’t have the same oohs and ahhhs. •Hummus was good with nice warm bread, for rm20, they were spread out rather thinly •Falafel was served fresh and hot, crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside but fell short on seasoning, it’s quite bland if eaten without any sauce •Mixed grill kebabs, another classic Middle Eastern, but they were quite dry and again under-seasoned. •Kabsa pot - they score on showmanship but I can’t put a finger on the flare 🔥 and the pot. I couldn’t taste as if the rice and lamb were cooked in open fire in earthen pot so really what’s the point?

We had a bit of a mixed experience here during the busy dinner rush. There is definitely a lot to like, but a few areas could use some tweaking. The vibe here is fantastic and incredibly fun! The decor is beautiful, especially the vibrant, colorful hanging lamps. The waiters were highly attentive and did their best to look after us. The food presentation is excellent and very photogenic. They even do a cool, fiery table-side presentation for certain dishes, like the Kabsa Pot. The main platter also looked incredibly appetizing when it hit the table. Because it was peak dinner time, the kitchen took quite a bit of time to serve our food. While the dishes looked the part, the flavors fell a bit flat for us. The hummus felt quite bland and lacked that rich, tangy garlic-and-tahini punch. Additionally, the rice served with the platter didn't have enough spice or depth of flavor.
