I love this bar. It truly embodies the meaning of a speakeasy. There are no signages at all. Yes, they are on Google Maps, and they absolutely deserve the good reviews. But the only way you would know it is there is by their telltale sign: a lamp in front of the building and another lamp above a hidden door. I will not say exactly where. You have to find it yourself. If the lamp is on, the bar is open. They also post their operating days and hours on Instagram. Let’s start with the drinks. They host a lot of events. There is a Wednesday special for ladies, themed events for Valentine’s, drag shows from time to time, open mic nights, and even talent shows. Every year, they introduce a new seasonal concept. This year, they released a Filipino inspired seasonal menu. Their classic menu, though, is themed around Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is really cool. Your friendly neighborhood speakeasy. Great drinks. Good music. Fun events happening often. I would suggest the spam fries for food, and the red cocktail carafe (sorry I forgot what it's called) for a drinky-drink! Their nachos are good too. I'm allergic to alcohol 😅 still love it here. One of the best hidden bars in the area. The staff and owners are really nice and make you feel welcome right away. The place has a cozy and relaxed vibe, perfect for hanging out with friends or winding down after a long day. They also have a great selection of drinks, all well-prepared and reasonably priced. Cocktails and food were decent, priced alright but very limited choices. The place is small, like a condo studio unit but is well air conditioned and the lighting is good. Seats are uncomfortable and their kitchen needs better ventilation. Here’s my disappointment: We reserved a table the day prior and was instructed to deposit a certain amount for the reservation fee and is consumable. Upon arrival, the staff has no idea about our reservation and we showed the chatlog and proof of payment. They implement a pay as you order system and as soon as our deposit was used up, we have to pay up front per order. They refused my request for an open tab so I just gave them whole bills to act as another deposit to avoid the inconvenience. (Mukha siguro akong hindi nag babayad kaya ganun 😂)

Located above Pino Restaurant, this secluded bar is the perfect place for those who prefer a less rowdy nightlife but still want to have a good time. It’s one of the few bars in Maginhawa that stays open til 4 am and has a smoking area with proper seats. Besides beer, they’ve got flavored sake bombs (a must try!) and quite reasonably priced cocktails. Highly recommend their signature Yip Yip and Peach Oolong Fizz—gotta note that these personal favorites are on the sweeter side though! I love how every now and then, they switch things up with the cocktails and share new, exciting drinks that show off their creativity. Mugen Bar is a small, intimate place with staff, regulars, and owners who know how to build and maintain a community, which is easily my favorite part. You can come in alone and leave the place with new friends after just a few hours of hanging around. The place isn't so big but the mirrors give the illusion that it is. The LEDs on the wall are a bit too bright I can literally do my makeup or read a book. The menu prices are okay. Not affordable, but reasonable. The music is nice and most of their customers are young adults. The curry nachos saved my life.
