I ended up at this place on a Sunday night. I wanted to sit outside and most of other places were full so I gave this one a chance even though the reviews were not overly positive. I have to admit, the reviews were right. The service is non existent - there are many waitors but there is no organization, 0 focus on the customer, long waiting to be served. The food was OK when it arrived, just ok. For the price changed it should be way better. The worst experience so far for me in Spain. Avoid this place

Honesty it isn’t a great place. Tortilla was just decent, octopus was horrible. Don’t ask for a well cooked tortilla if you’re, for example, pregnant. They won’t do it, just because of their discriminative company policy.

We found Restaurante Portela while walking yesterday evening. We were looking for authentic pulpo and we found it. We’ve been coming to Spain every year for the past decade and thought this pulpo was probably the best we had. The staff was friendly and able to help us choose a great wine (they have an extensive wine menu). All the food was excellent as was the service. If we were staying longer, we would be a repeat customer. We’ll be back next year. Highly recommended.

Amazing food and great service, a real treat during our visit to A Coruña, can't wait to come back. We loved the anchovies and croquetas so much that we wanted to order a second round almost immediately. In the end we didn't, and that's a good thing because we were able to try more of the menu. Highly recommended for the service and quality of the food.
