Matilde has a prominent location by the canal overlooking the Aranjuez Palace. The restaurant itself has a strange decoration with many Asian touches that conflict with the location. Staff are brusque, particularly the manager who walks erratically around pushing his team to take orders or clear tables when customers haven’t finish, very rude. Most of the waiters were more interested on their mobile phone than looking after customers. Food wise, a good value menu made with cheap produce. Came here after visiting the royal palace which was just across the street. It was located on the river. I think if u reserve ahead of time you can score a table with a view. The decor was lovely and aircon was on which was much appreciated on a hot Wednesday in June. Ushered to our seats immediately despite not having any reservations. As tourists during our stay in Aranjuez, we tried to find several restaurants where we could have lunch, but unfortunately all of them were either already closed or about to close. As tourists, we unfortunately only speak English, and this was the only restaurant willing to help us. When we arrived, a young lady welcomed us. Unfortunately, she did not speak English, but she quickly found someone who did. The English-speaking colleague informed us that unfortunately food was not available yet. My wife and I wanted were visiting from US and and wanted to go eat somewhere nice by the river. This place has a beautiful layout and the food was amazing!! We also had a bottle of Italian rose that was so delicious, we probably could have had another. Service was top notch and became a favorite after one visit. A must see if visiting. 2 fantastic dinner plates and a bottle for 55e!! We love Spain!
