On Palm Sunday, we went to eat at "El Retiro," as we often do, but our choice couldn't have been more unfortunate. After placing our order, we noticed that other tables were being served before ours, even though we had arrived later. We complained about the unnecessary wait, and the waiter (wearing glasses so as not to offend a very kind colleague, who apologized unnecessarily since it wasn't his fault) responded very rudely. We attribute this to a clear lack of professionalism (the owners should really look into it, as it's detrimental to their business), but, as residents of Mérida, we are a

You order a full portion of calamari to take away, they give you half but charge you for a full portion.

We went for lunch: Caesar salad, baby squid, shrimp omelet, more baby squid, and the best part! The house specialty dessert, the infallible "Retiro cake." The price was reasonable, except for the salad, which I found quite expensive for what it was. The waiters were very friendly. We'll definitely be back. Family atmosphere.
