Beware. Wanting to tip the waitress 10% which is not required in Madrid but we wanted to be nice, we specified how much change we wanted back. The waitress took it upon herself to give herself a 20% tip and gave us less change as she walked away. I could not let her take advantage of us as she probably figured we were stupid Americans and can't count our change. We called her back and spelled out how much we wanted back. She tried to pretend she didn't understand until I insisted that we get back our change while still giving her a 10% tip. Beware of unscrupulous waitress taking advantage of
