An unforgettable dining experience here. We chose the 9 an 11 courses tasting menus and were impressed from start to finish. Every course was beautifully presented and the flavours were exceptional. The chefs create surprising combinations that I was not used to. The service was equally memorable with Yehan who took great care of us and helped make the experience even more enjoyable. He could answer all our questions regarding food associations and ways of cooking and it’s definitely a plus. Everything was consistent from the first course to the last one. I left wishing I could come back and try the other tasting menus. So for any foodie, I definitely recommend the place to experience the mix of modern Indian and Sri Lanka cuisine.

We went for their menu Anika which was outstanding. Each course on the menu is like beautifully plated, well-balanced, and full of unexpected delightful flavor combinations. What elevated the evening even further was the impeccable service. A special mention to Thamara, Saktyarun, Tashen, and Damindu annd Also chef Sunanda is a gifted chef. Overall, Avartana is not just a restaurant it’s an experience. If you’re looking for an immersive experience with outstanding hospitality, this is a place in Colombo that you shouldn’t miss.

Fine dining at its best in Colombo, impeccable ambience, service, and food. Yehan helped us for choosing the right tasting menu and was incredibly hospitable and friendly, explained all food choices throughout. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they helped to arrange a surprise cake. The food looked like work of art and tasted delicious. Must try if you're in Colombo. Can't recommend enough and not possible to give more than 5 stars. Worth every penny.

My uncle took us to Avatana for a fine dining experience in their private dining room. This restaurant offers an exquisite view from the upper floors of the ITC Hotel. There were 4 fixed menus to choose from, with Anika being the most robust in our opinion. The staff were very accommodating to any food aversions and offered us genuine service with haste and without compromise. The finely curated “moments” of food was a fusion of Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine presented with a Mediterranean flare. Truly a memorable experience to say the least.

Although I had high expectations considering the reviews, Avartana far exceeded those expectations in all departments! I have had many tasting menus and would say this is the best food I have ever had at a restaurant. The balance of flavours was bang on - blending creativity and authentic regional flavours. The waiting staff were also very attentive and flexible to our asks. It should absolutely be the first restaurant in Sri Lanka to have a star and for the price is definitely a must visit in Colombo and even Sri Lanka as a whole!

However, the only downside was the service responsiveness. Despite the restaurant not being overly crowded, it was quite difficult to get the waiter’s attention at times, which slightly disrupted the otherwise excellent dining flow. Overall, this restaurant delivers a memorable culinary journey through India’s diverse flavors, with fine presentation and high-quality ingredients. A great choice for those seeking both authenticity and elegance — just a little improvement in attentiveness would make it perfect.
