One felt such a welcoming sense at Yaboo as a newbie to the area. I was looking for a simple meal - a tall white with a panini and salad. It looks rustic, unapologetic and could do with some dusting. But teas are their signature. The food is made slow even if you are the only customer there (like me that day at 12:23). So, don’t go there when you are busy transmuting through lunch time and in need of a simple bite. The bottles of water they serve can sometimes have a black residue on the trimmings; but after I pointed it out, the waitress came with a new bottle (cleaned white cap). So much so that when I went there a second time I got a clean bottle cap. Such is their welcoming service! On quiet afternoons a cat will drop by and remind you not to take life too seriously. That whether you yearn a quiet time to read, write your book or grab a smile with friends alike while drenching your lungs with cigarettes; this is the perfect 3rd space to just be yourself- unapologetically and non-p

Before you get into coffee shop, you can find the coffee roaster in the patio area. I come to try a special coffee drink (金蘋梅）designed by this coffee shop. This coffee drink is based on Geisha coffee with their home made dried apple and plum. The edge of the coffee cup is surrounded by caramelized sugar. All the ingredients are locally made. All these are coming together creating a complex experience of coffee.

This place feels less like a coffee shop and more like an artist’s living studio. Hidden in the alleys of Yongkang Street, the atmosphere is thick with the scent of roasting beans and the quiet hum of productivity. I ordered the Red Bean Mochi Cake and a Latte. The cake is a study in textures—the earthy sweetness of the red beans pairs beautifully with the chewy (Q-texture) surprise of the mochi inside. The latte was smooth, served with an unpretentious grace that matches the vibe. With a generous 3-hour limit, it’s a space that invites you to stay. The greenery in the courtyard and the beautiful shop cat wandering between tables add a sense of life to the room. A perfect spot for a long afternoon of reading or observing.

Service employees here do not use common sense. I asked to order two food items. They said I needed to order a drink so I did then they only brought me a drink and never brought food 35 minutes later. I just sat there until I asked and checked in, and the server that took my order claimed he thought I only wanted the drink..??? all I came for was the food and because he forced me to order the drink.. that’s all he thought I wanted? Makes absolutely no sense. Not even a language barrier thing -just use common sense. I came to order food not drinks, so when you force people to order a drink with a meal order.. expect that they may in fact want the food they came for in the first place! Instead of offering to cover the drink, I didn’t want in the first place- I was still made to pay for it. Dumb waste.
